Debate, not Argue

We are pleased to report that our association “Jaunimo debatai” has – from April 2022 to February 2024 – successfully completed its second Erasmus+ project, “Debate, not Argue” (DNA). During this two-year experience, we worked closely with partners from five European countries (Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia and Germany) and involved over 20 participants from Lithuania and another 100 from other partner countries. Our common goal was to promote young people’s digital and media literacy through, among other means, the development of physical and virtual learning tools.

During the project, we invited participants to attend remote and live workshops where experts in their respective fields shared their personal experiences and knowledge in the areas of media, information literacy and content creation. Participants also had the opportunity to take part in various international LTT (learning, teaching, training) events, which took place in four different countries and during which they created their own media literacy training content (videos, podcasts, games, articles, methodological publications, etc.). We are proud that all this developed material is free and publicly available on the project website www.debatenotargue.eu. We are also happy that the organisers of the project itself – our association and our Belgian partners, the youth organisation “Hujo” – contributed to this content development by preparing a universal debate methodology in English.

The distribution of this developed content took place in respective local communities of participating countries, where the project participants themselves organised “spin-off workshops” to raise awareness of media and information literacy. One such event took place at the LSMU Primary School in Kaunas, for example. In addition, the content created as part of the project was successfully promoted at the larger Multiplier events in Vilnius and Dresden – events that aimed to raise public awareness of more general issues prevailing in respective areas. For example, our association organised the “International Youth” on the 12th of October 2024 to discuss the various integration challenges of young people from other countries in Lithuania. The fair programme included discussions, presentations and other activities in English, organised with the help of various Lithuanian NGOs and youth organisations. This fair, taking place at the European Humanities University, was one of the main events to mark the end of the DNA project.

We would like to thank our project partners, participants and other friends for another successfully completed Erasmus+ project. We are pleased to have contributed to the main goal of the project – to promote more debate and less dispute!

The project was funded by the European Union.
