On February 4th and 6th, the “Alumni an Schulen” training sessions took place again! As every year, members of the association and alumni of the German debate competition “Jugend debattiert” were happy to share their experiences and advice with future competition participants from various Lithuanian schools. We would like to thank the active students of four Lithuanian gymnasiums – Kaunas Jesuit Gymnasium, Vilnius Jesuit Gymnasium, Vilnius Lyceum, and Vilnius Žirmūnai Gymnasium – who not only explored the format and structure of the debate during the meetings, asked questions about the evaluation criteria, but also developed arguments and sought effective strategies for defending their personal positions. We are particularly pleased with the two different types of debate sessions – shorter format and full length – which allowed students to test their skills in practice: to exchange well-considered, creative arguments and formulate accurate, clever insights relevant to the general society.

The “Alumni an Schulen” training sessions, led this year by association members Rugilė Urniežiūtė, Karolis Liutkus, and association council member Margarita Aleknienė, are designed to help students in their preparation to participate in the “Jugend debattiert in Mittel-, Ost- und Südosteuropa” debate competition. We thank them and wish the students inspiration, interesting and creative insights, as well as success in the regional round!
