The Association “Youth Debates” was founded in 2017 by the participants of the “Jugend debattiert international” competition in Lithuania. We founded the Association in order to unite young debaters and to contribute to the organisation of the debate competition.
Over the years, we have grown into an independent, non-profit organisation that fosters the culture of debate in Lithuania and Europe, builds socially responsible civic society, and promotes critical thinking.
Our activities include public discussions, debates and workshops on topics of public interest. For several years now, we have been running international projects in cooperation with partners across Europe. We are involved in Erasmus+ programmes, organising youth exchanges and inviting young people from all over the world to engage in international dialogue. We also organise informational events where we try to introduce young adults about opportunities to study abroad.
We have many years of experience in organising debate trainings in Lithuanian, German and English. We use world-renowned methodologies and have a team of debating teachers with international experience. We also organise longer-term events, such as multi-day summer and winter academies, where we exchange academic knowledge in a streamlined and engaging format.
With our activities, we are building a debating Lithuania!
Our association consists of five Board Members, six members of the Advisory Committee and members of the Association.
The patron of the Youth Debates Association in Lithuania is Arnoldas Pranckevičius.
